The origin of the brand dates back to 1927, when brothers Cesare and Umberto Cassina started creating Italy’s finest handcrafted furniture. As the years went by, prestigious architects and designers began to collaborate with the company, signing iconic pieces such as “Chaise Longue à réglage continu durable”, by Le Corbusier, Pierre Jeanneret, Charlotte Perriand, now available for a limited period of time (until September 2026) in three new colourways: red, blue and glossy green frames combined with leather.
In the company’s store in Milan you’ll find many examples of Cassina’s technical prowess and design culture, combined with Italian savoir-faire: from the most “historic” pieces to more recent creations. For example, you’ll see the sofa-armchair “Fiandra”, originally designed for Cassina in 1975 by the creative genius of Vico Magistretti, and now re-edited with enhanced proportions to meet the needs of contemporary lifestyle. And Fiandra’s re-edition has even an eye on circularity, because it can be disassembled easily: the metal structure can in fact be separated from its padded elements to facilitate recycling.

You’ll also see the ingenious “Mon-Nid” bed designed by Patricia Urquiola. A celebration of comfort and relaxation, with its abundant volumes and soft curves. Mon-Nid contains a compartment under the mattress, accessible through a front opening system that lifts the slatted base, for storing objects or clothing. It is also completely free of elements in polyurethane and is built to be disassembled at the end of its life cycle.
As you stroll through the various areas of Cassina’s beautiful Milanese store, you can’t miss the beauty and simplicity of “Treflo” by Ronan Bouroullec, a collection of tables in different shapes and sizes (larger for the dining area and smaller for the living room), all of them characterised by sinuous lines. Treflo also comes in different colours: neutral hues, midnight blue, brick red and a very unique shade of dark green, applied to the glass, the wood and the polyurethane base of the tables. And, to make this piece even more unique, Treflo tabletop is uneven ‒ a meticulously crafted detail that conveys a sense of artisan craftsmanship.
Last but not least, you can admire Cassina’s Lighting Collection, which comprises pieces of the past and of the present designed by great masters such as Charles and Ray Eames and Ico Parisi, as well as more recent names such as the Chinese designer Mario Tsai or the French designer Ferréol Babin.
