THere are 3 amazing restaurants close to Bocconi campus that are perfect for a special dinner, a birthday celebration, or if you simply want to enjoy great food in a new, exciting place. The first restaurant specialises in authentic Argentinian cuisine, the second one is typically Milanese, and the third is like a little corner of Japan in the centre of Milan.
El Porteño – Darsena
Just a few steps from Bocconi University campus and not far from the famous Navigli district, you will find El Porteño Darsena, a restaurant that perfectly captures the Argentine culinary tradition. If you love top-quality meat, this place will be paradise for you.
A place where you can enjoy the excellence of carefully selected meats from the farms of Argentina’s Pampas, expertly grilled according to tradition.
And if you want to treat yourself to a real Argentinian-style “asado”, consisting of slow-grilled meat marinated for a long time to ensure maximum tenderness, you can book the “Porteño Experience”, available from Sunday to Wednesday. This includes appetisers and empanadas, a platter with a mix of various cuts of grilled meat (Asado de Tira, Bife de Chorizo, Entraña Fina) and a selection of side dishes, followed by a dessert.
But the quality of the food is not the only extraordinary thing about El Porteño. In fact, the restaurant was carefully designed in Argentine style and furnished with antiques and artwork sourced directly from local markets and antique shops in Buenos Aires. The goal? Recreating the atmospheres and the cosiness of a typical 1940s-1950s Argentine home.

Il Fortino Milano
Il Fortino Milano is a lovely restaurant with soft lighting and a very pleasant atmosphere, just a stone’s throw from the Bocconi campus.
The menu at Fortino has its roots in traditional Milanese cuisine, with a modern twist. Starters include their amazing Fried Polenta Chips with Gorgonzola (saying “amazing” is not quite enough to describe how delicious these chips are).
Their classic Milanese cutlet is available in two variations, with veal or pork (the latter is known as “elephant-ear cutlet” for its typical shape). Especially for the colder months, I recommend their Beef Braised in Red Wine with Polenta. And if you love fish, you can’t miss their Seared Tuna Steak in sesame crust.
Weather permitting, you can also enjoy their cute garden/dehors embellished with swings.

J’s Hiro
This little restaurant run by a Japanese lady is like a corner of Japan in the centre of Milan, offering authentic Japanese cuisine of the highest quality.
The food is prepared and presented with great care, and the menu includes sushi and sashimi, but also ramen, udon, yakitori, tempura, unagi and much more.
The restaurant is not spacious and can sometimes be a bit crowded, but the quality of the food makes it absolutely worth it for anyone looking for Japan’s unmistakable flavours.
