Want to find some of the most unique jewelry in Milan? Agapanthus is a hidden gem you’ll love discovering

jewelry in milan

The finest jewelry in Milan is exactly as you’d imagine it to be, with great focus on quality, style and sophistication. Could we expect anything less from one of the world’s capitals of fashion and design? And I’ve got a real gem for you (pun totally intended): Agapanthus.

Agapanthus is a really special jewelry shop in Milan.

First of all, it’s named after a flower whose Greek name includes the word “love” (agape). And these jewels are really made with love. The brand, founded in 2003, is in fact characterised by its passion for the finest traditions of artisan goldsmithing, combined with a careful and really interesting selection of metals and gemstones.

One of the traits that make Agapanthus jewels so special are the materials used: like the champagne-hued white gold ‒ a perfect blend of traditional heritage and contemporary design ‒ which is one of the brand’s signature touches.

But one of the most interesting and original concepts you’ll see in Agapanthus jewels is the brand’s decision to favour uniqueness over impersonal perfection for some of their gemstones. For example in their Salt and Pepper Diamond, which is a white diamond with black inclusions. This is definitely very different from the typical standards of purity set by traditional jewellers, yet Salt and Pepper Diamonds have the same brilliance but way more character, personality and uniqueness, exactly because of their inclusions. In other words, the perfection of imperfection, where inclusions can create particular optical effects that make the gemstone even more “alive”.

Other examples of stones that embellish Agapanthus creations are Brown Diamonds and Teal Sapphires, which are two-tone.

And alongside more precious gemstones, Agapanthus also appreciates and uses semi-precious stones such as quartz, tourmaline, malachite, spinel and many more.

The whole process that leads to the creation of Agapanthus jewels takes place in Italy, where they are designed and handcrafted.

The ornamental designs in some of the jewels recall the decorations in Indian and Middle-Eastern palaces, or they are inspired by Gothic and Baroque elements, or even by particular shells found on an island off the coast of Florida.

If you haven’t been there yet, Agapanthus is definitely worth a visit!
