2 iconic clothing shops in Milan you’ll be excited to discover

Clothing Shops in Milan, Italy

If you want to spice up your wardrobe with some new beautiful pieces for the season, you can check out these two clothing shops in Milan that many Milanese women adore.

You’ll find garments that celebrate the beauty of colours and truly enhance the woman’s body.

Sartoria Principessa

Sartoria Principessa is a truly heavenly place if you love the timeless elegance of style icons like Grace Kelly and Audrey Hepburn.

Ornella, the owner, founded Principessa in 1987 with the aim of creating garments that she truly liked and that did not necessarily follow fashion trends. Garments that could really enhance the woman’s body.

Her source of inspiration? Films from the 1930s to the 1960s, but also costume drama (first and foremost “The Leopard” by Luchino Visconti, and also Sofia Coppola’s “Marie Antoinette”), and of course the work of fashion designers such as Dior, Paul Poiret and Givenchy, just to name a few. Any style that’s quintessentially beautiful.

At Principessa you can find a large collection of ready-made garments: coats, dust coats, cocktail dresses, and even everyday dresses if you want to look classy also in your daily life.

If, on the other hand, you want to have one of their garments made to measure for you, you can avail yourself of Principessa’s great tailoring skills and choose the most suitable fabric from their incredibly wide selection.

Yes, because one of Principessa’s strong points are precisely the fabrics: silk satin, taffeta, chiffon, embroidered tulle, organza, printed cottons, bouclé, velvet, brocade, cashmere ‒ you name it.

You can also opt for their knitwear collection of blouses and cardigans (in cotton, linen, merino wool, mohair, cashmere), or one of their gorgeous accessories: velvet stoles that will truly make you look like a princess, embroidered evening bags, headbands.

The secret of a garment from Principessa? It will never go out of style.

Imarika

A favourite fashion boutique for many Milanese women, Imarika is a must-visit destination if you are looking for clothing that make you more beautiful and bring you joy.

Founded in 1979 by two sisters, Benedetta and Maria Bevilacqua, the boutique is now run by Benedetta’s son Maximiliano, an Economics and Philosophy graduate whose studies have contributed to further developing Imarika’s values.

What fashion brands can you find here? Besides well-known brands, such as Comme des Garçons, Péro, Tagliatore and Pierre-Louis Mascia, there are also artisanal garments created by emerging designers. In fact, the concept of constant research ‒ and a constant quest for premium quality ‒ has always been fundamental at Imarika.

Maximiliano says that “a dress is like a foretaste of Paradise”, in an inseparable combination of goodness and beauty. The beauty of Imarika’s clothes becomes then a means for enhancing and expressing the goodness and well-being of the women who wear them.

In light of these concepts, it is not surprising that the clothes you’ll find here are joyful and colourful.

Nor is it surprising that Imarika has developed its own fashion brand, called “Kalia”: a selection of party dresses (in exclusive fabrics that can’t be found elsewhere) and knitwear that once again celebrate the concept of beauty. And it is no coincidence that the name “Kalia” encapsulates the root of the Greek word “kalòs” (“beautiful”).
